During my end-of-study internship as an international agro-development engineer at ISTOM in 2024, I went into the field to carry out a study aimed at quantifying the potential for honey production in the vicinity of the Muanda mangrove marine park in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). My aim was to gather as much relevant information as possible so that the study could be of use to ULB-Coopération.
I was lucky enough to work closely with the local communities involved in the project. The exchanges were constructive and enriching. I also appreciated the autonomy and trust that ULB-Coopération gave me to carry out my work.
The placement also enabled me to forge strong links with the team on site. They were accessible, caring and keen to share their skills and knowledge, as well as their culture and their country. Finally, my host organisation was able to provide me with all the support I needed to make my study a success.
